★★★★☆

Lyrebird Dell is one of those delightful short walks in the Blue Mountains that are often overlooked when compared to the walks the highlight the grandeur of the Jamison, Grose and Megalong Valleys. The walk takes you through dense rainforest, full of ferns and fern trees, following the Gordon Creek from Lyrebird Dell to the Pool of Siloam. I combined this walk with part of the Prince Henry Cliff Walk, visiting some of the lookouts near Leura.

There are two options on where to begin the walk - Leura Oval or Gordon Falls Reserve. Of the two, Gordon Falls Reserve has better facilities if you want to enjoy a picnic after the walk. For those with children or are just young at heart, Gordon Falls Reserve is also adjacent to the Leuralla Toy and Rail Museum, which I would have visited if my son had been with me on this walk.
