★★★☆☆

Sparked by the discovery of gold in the area in the 1880s, Milparinka grew to become a substantial town by the late 1880s, boasting four hotels (one of which remains and is still operating), a post office, courthouse, police station as well as various shops and other public buildings. The town was largely abandoned when the gold ran out in the early 1890s, and is mostly a ghost town now, albeit with some well preserved building.

This was my firth visit to Milparinka, having first visited in 2009. The town has recently been revamped with new information signs, an astronomy park and museum. Entry to the heritage precinct was $10 per adult at the time of my visit.
