After a very long day's drive from Sydney, it was pleasant to be able to stop and spend the night at Balranald. Taking a walk around the town and along the Murrumbidgee River, I came across a number of frog statues, having accidentally stumbled on the Funky Frog Trail. This walk around Balranald is a wonderful way to get to know the town and see the quirky frog statues - constructed in recognition of the endangered Southern Bell Frog which lives in semi-permanent wetlands of the Balranald Shire.

Maps of the trail can be obtained from the Visitors Information Centre, which unfortunately was closed in the evening when I visited. It was fun to try to locate the frogs, but I am sure that I missed many of them! Walking along the banks of the Murrumbidgee River with the magnificent red gums was also very pleasant.
