Elizabeth Farm (1793) is the oldest surviving residence in Australia. Built for John and Elizabeth Macarthur, the farm was Elizabeth's favourite place and where she lived until her 80's. While most of the farm was subdivided in the late 1800s, the house survived and is now a barrier free museum (the furnishings being accurate recreations). Visitors are encouraged to walk around, sit on the furniture, read the newspaper and letters and experience what life was like in the early days of the New South Wales colony.

I was given an iPad upon entry which had a number of videos describing the various rooms, as well as a history of John and Elizabeth's life in the colony and how the farm and its buildings came into being. Visiting every room and walking around the gardens took about an hour and I very much enjoyed my visit.
