Balls Head

Wollstonecraft, NSW

★★★★☆

This is one of my favourite tracks in Sydney. The track follows the shore of Sydney Harbour through pockets of rainforest and native bushland. If you are fortunate, you may even see some of the native animals and birds that still call these areas home. I returned to do part of this track again with my son a few years later in our Berry Island walk.

On this occasion I began the trek in Wollstonecraft on Sydney's north shore, then followed the track from the train station down to Berry Island before making my way around to Balls Head and on to McMahons Point. There is a lot to see along the way, including the aboriginal rock engravings at Berry Island and Balls Head, the historical coal loader at Balls Head and the rusting remains of a barge at Sawmillers Reserve - all of this framed by the stunning scenery of the world's most beautiful harbour.
