Spring time in the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park is a wonderful time of year to visit. There is a mass of wildflowers that provide splashes of colour to the landscape. On the Saturday that I visited, I saw more than a dozen varieties, with the bright pinks of boronias and croweas being the highlights.

The walk that I did combines three tracks, the Gibberagong Track, Sphinx Track and Warrimoo Track. These tracks explore the banks of the rainforest clad Cockle Creek and the more open, drier bush of Cowan Creek. There is a lot to see along the way including the mangroves at Cockle Creek, pockets of rainforest, remnants of the area's Aboriginal past and the hand carved memorial to World War 1 fallen soldiers in the shape of the Great Sphinx of Giza.

It was a great day out, and the delightful picnic area at Bobbin Head where I had lunch just made it perfect.
