Allyn River Rainforest Walk

Grade 3 Grade 3

Upper Allyn, NSW

★★★★☆

The Allyn River section of the Chichester State Forest encompasses some of the most beautiful subtropical rainforest in New South Wales. The sheltered valleys of the lower slopes of the Barrington Tops feature tall Sydney Blue Gums, giant River Oaks, Strangler Figs, Giant Stinging Trees, Soft Fern Trees and masses of ferns, orchids and other rainforest plants.

The Allyn River Rainforest Walk is one of the best short walks to showcase this stunning greenery. Beginning at Peach Tree Picnic Area, the track heads through the dark green rainforest, before circling back along the banks of the clear cold waters of the Allyn River. This is one of my favourite walks in this area, and it was great to be able to revisit the walk.
