★★★☆☆

This day out was spent in exploring a series of tracks that follow the gullies and streams of the Lower Blue Mountains. The loop I did begins at Springwood and follows the Sassafras Gully to the junction of Sassafras and Glenbrook Creeks, then on to Perch Ponds, before heading up Magdala Gully back to Springwood.

The sheltered and shady gullies were beautifully green, with sassafras trees mingling with the moss covered rocks and ferns of the numerous (but mostly dry) creek beds. While no where near as strenuous as some of the other tacks in the Blue Mountains, this is still a fairly long and challenging track, involving a bit of guesswork at some of the creek crossings, where the track seems to at times disappear!
