The 18 books in the series chronicle the adventures of Ken Holt and Sandy Allen.
Ken is the son of the world-famous foreign correspondent Richard Holt, the star investigative reporter at Global News, and is an up and coming reporter himself. Sandy's passion lies in photography. Together, the boys work at a Pop Allen's local weekly newspaper, the Brentwood Advance.
While trying to avoid trouble where possible, Ken and Sandy always manage to find themselves in the middle of exciting adventures. Using their wits (and sometimes their fists), the two work as a team to solve the many mysteries that come their way.

Born in 1910 Bowral, NSW, Australia, Paul White had Africa in his blood for as long as he could remember. His father captured his imagination with stories of his experiences in the Boer War which left an indelible impression. His father died of meningitis in an army camp in 1915, and he was left an only child without his father at five years of age. He inherited his father's storytelling gift along with a mischievous sense of humour.
He committed his life to Christ as a 16 year old school boy and studied medicine as gthe next step towards missionary work in Africa. Paul and his wife, Mary, left Sydney with their small son, David, for Tanganyika in 1938. He always thought of this as his life's work but Mary's severe illness forced their return to Sydney in 1941. Their daughter, Rosemary was born while they were overseas.
Within weeks of his return, Paul White was invited to begin a weekly radio broadcast which spread throughout Australia as the Jungle Doctor Broadcasts. The weekly manuscripts for these programmes became the raw material for the Jungle Doctor Hospital stories - a series of 20 books.
